Dear De
I’m writing this letter to share my expierence with buddah’s retreat, I participated in along with numerous other inmates, on October the 14, 2022, At Ironwood state Prison, My spiritual instructor and guide is De Hung. This retreat took place after a riot that happened here on d-yard on Sept 27 of 2022. Do to this horrific incident theres was alot of negative energy around me which we call it Dukkha.
These thoughts and feelings are felt all the time, So on the day of our retreat we we’re able to meditate for up to 2 hours, This expierence was beautiful it helped me release all my anxiety and stress that had built up for the month do to this incident of the riot. De is a very calm presence that automaticlly puts one at ease by the way he talks to us, teaches us, but specially while we’re deep in meditation, He guides us to concentrate on diffrent parts of our bodies, by doing this, I’am able to feel a sense of peace, relaxation and tranquilty this feellings I carry for days after I meditate for a long period of time. I try to be mindful of my thoughts and actions to always do things with a positive attitude, But when one expierences traumatics events, I can’t help but get filled with anxiety. I can only say and stay that since I’ve spent time with De Hung. My life has become more peaceful and rich, at the beggining of the session De asked us to say what good quailty do we each possess. I stated Compassion and I try to be of service to others I facilitate Self help groups and I mirror my behavior and the way I teach the group as De teaches us. I meditate more and more and it relieves all bad energy and helps me to have a day filled with peace and the biggest reason for this is Because of my Spiritual advisor De Hung and meditation is at the root of this healing I now carry in my daily life thanks to my practice with metta.
